IDEO partnered with International Development Enterprises (IDE), Heifer International, ICRW, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to create a toolkit for applying Human-Centered Design to inspire new solutions to difficult challenges within communities of need.
Die IDEO Method Cards sind eine Erfindung des gleichnamigen Design-Büros IDEO aus Palo Alto, Kalifornien, USA. Das IDEO entstand 1990 durch den Zusammenschluß der drei Designbüros David Kelley Design, ID Two und Matrix Product Design. Es gehört heute zu den renommiertesten Ideenschmieden und hat sich auf Designberatung und Innovation im Bereich Design spezialisiert.
Der Methoden-Matrix liegen vier Quellen zugrunde:

Q2: design methods: John Chris Jones, second edition, 1992, (1970)
Q3: IDEO method cards: IDEO, www.ideo.com
Q4: Design-100 Prinzipien für erfolgreiche Gestaltung: Lidwell, Holden, Butler ,2003
Die Methoden-Matrix ist die Basis für das spätere Methoden-Tool. Jeder Methode wurden weiter Informationen – Name, Quelle, Ablauf, Zielsetzung etc. – in 16 Rubriken beigefügt. Anbei eine Zuordnung der Methoden und deren Quellen.
